Dragon Age Origins - Multiple Reviews

Here is a Dragon Age Origins review marathon, as published by IGN, Gamespot and Zeitgeist.

They all seem to agree that Dragon Age: Origins is a vast game with a deep and entrancing story that the player can build by making decisions from the very beginning of the game. Gameplay wise, it does not reinvent the genre but it does introduce some new details and layers of complexity that definitely settle a new standard of production values never seen before in a RPG/adventure title.

Also the three reviewers convey the idea that the PC version is significantly superior to the console counterparts in its depth, its technical specs and in some of its additional features.

MS on Xbox360-exclusive DLC for Modern Warfare 2

We knew it since some time ago, but Microsoft just reminded us.

Modern Warfare 2 will be getting DLC soon and Xbox360 gamers will be getting it first. Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg defended it: "I think about it like a sports team, when you sign a star athlete for your team... when you sign that free agent, I think it makes your team better. At the end of the day, we want to turn as many people as possible into Xbox 360 fans."

So that is what you do when you want to get ahead of your competitors, you throw money at the game publishers and ask them to exclude your competitors from their development list. Nice to see such a sporting attitude in the gaming industry.

Not that I have anything against the Xbox360 or Microsoft, but it's their stupid "We're not better but we give you more" policy. Imagine if Volkswagen could get Ferrari banned from the Formula 1, and then they promoted their cars saying "Our cars are better because they race on F1." Just for the record I don't defend this kind of practice coming from any company or being done in any platform.

Splinter Cell: Conviction - IGN hands-on

Splinter Cell: Conviction will be released in late February, but some people got a chance to see some footage at the CES 2010 and I must admit it's shaping up pretty nicely if we compare it to the result of the previous title: Double Agent.

This game introduces several features such as "Mark and Execute", which consists of marking one or more targets that the character will shoot at automatically, allowing the player to experiment with some advanced stealth techniques. "Last Known Position" is a feature that displays a silhouette and shows the player the approximate position of where an enemy guard thinks he is located, allowing him to perform an evasive or flanking maneuver. Conviction also makes better use of the environment and lighting to create an innovative experience.

The Sims 2 - House by Gemz

This is a new house by Gemz from BlackPearlSims.

Topaz is a house with an exterior design that brings the best old memories back to life. Its siding is made with horizontal boards that show warm colors. The main entrance is located on the right side of the house and you get there by following a small path defined by stones, not without taking a look to the plants and trees well settled in the garden.

The interiors are paneled in shades of white and gray, and surrounded by different types of windows that make good use of the available lighting and give the house a fresh feeling. The decoration is neat and alive with plants, flowers and candlelights. The living room is topped by a glass roof that makes it a place one wants to be at when it rains. Also on the first floor we can find a bathroom with a private balcony.

This is a beautiful-looking apartment built by Tara from BlackPearlSims.com.

In her work we can see an intensive work of decoration with warm colors, a familiar design that attracts for its simplicity and coziness. The elements are well placed and they don't show off any luxury, neither they are too cluttered or heavy on the eyes.

In the livingroom two sofas opposed to each other stand out amongst pieces of art and are accompanied by a cozy fireplace and a plant that adds a natural component into the mix of senses.

The livingroom has a corridor that leads to a dining/kitchen room, and a bedroom. The strong presence of wooden elements and paintings keep the style consistent across the rooms. The kitchen is spacious and contains everything one could need.

There are two versions of the bedroom although here we will feature only one. A big bed almost against the wall is again surrounded by the finest art, and a little table with books. The room has the right lighting. The colors mix grays and light blues that provide a calm feeling.
